When I started weaving, a friend gave me the “recipe” for blue jean placemats. These are the old standby from the Loom Room that existed in Three Rivers from the early ’70s thru 1982. People give me their old blue jeans and I cut them into 1/4 inch strips and weave them into a rainbow of cotton threads. I love to give them as wedding gifts because I think of rainbows as God’s promise of new beginnings. These mats wear like iron. I have some that are at least 25 years old and still going strong.
